The rose vines, and
You were not too far away
Taking in one last breath,
Hiding from me.
I remember once when we were
Super close.
Super close to marriage,
A family.
I threw it all away,
Because I got scared.
You were one drink away,
From death.
I clung to my smoke in tyranny;
All these years later,
I still think about you.
Think about how I was in love with you…
I don’t want new days, and
I don’t want you back in my life.
Yet, I think how close I was
To living a life, that wasn’t so
Lonely.
