Morning anticipation,

Awoken with creaky aches and wishes for more slumber time,

Instead, I made coffee

and waited silently

from the view of my chair,

as I knew they would be here – soon.

Candy-cane darling,

Boozy egg nogs in the morning.

Walks taken in the briskest of weather.

My only hopes,

I finish that book,

a mere moment,

a semblance,

of alone time.
