  • Jump-Buggyed Lawnmower : Gravel collecting behind my Ankles.

    May 28th, 2024

    ‘Change the setting.
Is what my Grandfather told me
That I knew of a connoisseur
    Of buttery-salt.grits and cheddar brats
    Fresh from the grill
    Wrapped
    Like a stick nitro fertilizer
    In paper-towel;
And I understood that everyday I cook dinner,
    I change the temperature,
    I syncopate the beats,
I create a tune that even in the after-life,
    I learn from my Elders,
    And I season with bases,
    Just like my Grandmama,
And Granddaddy convinced me the world
    Wasn’t so dismal
    When you treated an International
    Legacy of Immigration
    Towards Cultural Migration
    And understood
    My dislike of my birthplace
    Simply meant:
./’] You come from a lot dear, perhaps; I’ll take you to go see em’.
